Builder Story Legend Story Player Story Builder of the Bowling Industry Story

The late BOB TOTZKE of Waterloo launched his career in our industry when he built Waterloo Bowling Lanes in 1949, and expanded in 1964 with the purchase in Kitchener of Towne Bowl. In the banner years of the 1950s and 1960s, Bob’s was the most popular stop on an annual “tour” of 5 Pin tournaments, and his All Events competition in 1957 drew a record 5,700 entries! He was an instigator in the formation of what has become today’s immensely successful Conestoga 5 Pin Bowlers’ Association in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, and assisted with their hosting of the National Championships in Kitchener in 1965. Bob served for 15 years as President in Zone “C”, and was also President and Treasurer of the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of Ontario.
